Bondax - Wet Summer

This weather is absolutely brilliant. After all that rain I don't think any of us can complain. The future-garage duo Bondax obviously agree with us after dropping this wonderful track yesterday with the caption: 'A little something inspired by a beautiful weekend in May'.

Short and simple, this track will not disappoint.

Northern Aficionado x Dicky Artwerks

Here at Northern Aficionado we like our art. Sketches are probably our favourite form of art and after finding Dicky Artwerks we think we've hit the jackpot. It's basically a culmination of our favourite things brought together in witty, funny and incredibly entertaining sketches. Here are some of the said sketches below for your enjoyment:

See what we mean. Genius. We like Dicky Artwerks so much that we enquired about the possibility of doing a collaboration with them and to our delight they accepted. So, in issue three we're going to be sharing with you some exclusive sketches that we've had a say on. Mint, eh? And if that's not enough then there's more to come from our collaboration, but that will all be revealed in good time.

Floral Days

We don’t know about you lot, but we’re loving floral patterns at the moment. Another thing we love is Japan. Whether it be the ace denim or the Tokyo streetwear scene, you can’t help but notice that Japan seems to have a passion for decent clothes.

It seems like the team at Ben Sherman also shared our love for these two things when designing their Japanese Inspired Floral Shirt. Coming in a dark grey colour with a subtle floral print, this short sleeved number would look ace this summer.

Here Comes The Sun (Kind Of)

It seems like it hasn’t stopped raining for months recently. We don’t know about anyone else but this has got us lot at Northern Aficionado thinking about our plans this summer. Whether it’s watching The Stone Roses at Heaton Park, by the pool in sunnier climes or just a trip to the shop for some strawberry Bon Bons, you can’t help but feel ten times cooler if you’re wearing a decent pair of sunglasses.

Our favourite pair of shades have to be the Rayban Clubmaster’s. Combining the classic wayfarer and aviator frames definitely paid off for Rayban and these are something you might just catch us wearing this summer.

XXYYXX - About You

We haven’t posted much about music in ages. We don’t know if that says more about the music industry or more about us. Probably the latter.

Anyway, the end of last week saw the release of XXYYXX’s video for his brilliant song ‘About You’. The 16 year old’s latest offering can’t help but remind us of an early James Blake and promises big things for the future. The Jeff Vash directed video leaves the music to do a lot of the talking as it centres around girls smoking weed and not much more. All in all, good song, alright video

Converse x Stussy Elm LS OX

We know that you can’t move for footwear collaborations at the moment (the Nike x Quickstrike stuff seems to be never ending) but recently a joint venture between two classic brands caught our eye.

Stussy can’t put a foot wrong in our eyes, as well as pretty much creating the streetwear movement they have established themselves as a consistent, high-quality menswear legend in just over twenty years. Converse really don’t need an introduction. Everyone should own a pair of All Stars at some point in their lives and everyone who’s everyone has, from Steve McQueen to Hunter S. Thompson. When the two brands collaborated recently on a range of footwear one model really took our fancy. Looking like a low version of something Fracap would do, the Elm would look great with a pair of black jeans, a good shirt and a K-Way this Summer.

And a congratulations is in order to York City who yesterday secured another trip to Wembley by beating Mansfield in the Blue Square Premier play-off semi final's. It'd be great if they could win the final and make it two northern clubs out of two entering the league from the BSP! Good luck to York in the Trophy final and also the play offs.

Even though it doesn’t feel like it, Summer is definitely on the horizon, and what could be better for Summer than a Ralph Lauren polo shirt with a mad print on it?

This surf inspired polo shirt is a favourite here at Northern Aficionado and one that we are gonna have to get hold of. It’d look ace with some navy chino shorts and a decent pair of Adidas. Once again, Ralph Lauren never fail to impress.
